Grade Booster:Quarterly Extra Credit

Directions:

            Once every 9 weeks I offer an extra credit project. The project must be turned in one week before the quarter ends in order to add in this extra credit grade.

 

 Please choose TWO from the list. Yes, grammar does count on this project. Please do your best so that I can enjoy reading what you took the time to create!

 

 

  1. Library Project: In the reader’s guide find FIVE articles that remind you of a story we just read in class. Tell me in complete sentences how the story you read in class reminds you of the article you found at the library.
    • Remember you must choose FIVE small articles. List the name of the article and the author as well as how they are similar.
  2. Quote TEN passages of good description and good dialogue and explain them.
  3. Read a short book and write a different ending to the book.Cite the book, author, copyrite date.
  4. Write a Five Line POEM about a story yourself
    • Line One: A noun that represents you.
    • Line Two: Two adjectives
    • Line Three: Three verbs
    • Line Four:  A sentence describing the Noun
    • Line Five: A synonym for the noun

 

  1. Pretend you’re the author of the story you just read. Write a letter to me telling me about your life, and how you thought up this story. The more creative you are, the better the score on this project!
  2. Write a diary with at least 10 entries for your favorite character in a book.
  3. As an interior decorator, how would you decorate your favorite characters bedroom? Explain and illustrate.
  4. Create a list and compare two characters from two different stories or movies in regards to how much they are alike or different. Explain what character traits each have that you think they should change. Tell me why.
  5. Create a list and compare a character in a book you recently read to yourself. Explain what character traits you have in common. Also include one character train that you and the character have that needs to be changed. Explain why.
  6.  Make A TV script for one scene in the book you are reading.

 

EXTRA  EXTRA CREDIT

             Find and write down twenty-five similes and metaphors. (Cite your source……I’ll be looking them up and varifying them) :-)
