Breakfast For Your Head: Cereal Box Book Report
Due Date:_____________________
Description of Task:
Your task is to relate what you have learned about in the book you read by decorating and “filling” a cereal box. The following must be included:
________Step 1: Before you start, you will need to cover your cereal box with construction paper.
________Step 2: Front: Design a front cover for the novel. Include the name of the book, the author, and an original illustration. This must be in color and hand drawn.
_____Step 3: Back: The top portion of the back needs to contain a blurb, giving information to entice or interest a reader to want to read on. This must be at least 6 sentences, but not give away the whole story.
_____Step 4: The lower portion of the back must be a puzzle, activity, word game, or any other activity that might be found on the back of a cereal box. Make sure it includes information from the book. (www.puzzlemaker.com is a good resource to make puzzles online).
______Step 5: Side One: Make a list of “ingredients” that includes the following story elements
• Introduction
• Rising Action
• Climax
• Falling Action
• Resolution
You must explain these in relation to specific events in the book.
_______Step 6: Side Two: Create a “Nutritional Facts Chart” that rates the book by giving the percentage of the RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance), in several categories:
· Humor
· Drama
· Suspense
· Action
· Educational Value
· Vocabulary.
_______Step 7: Top: Name, Date, and Class Period.
________Step 8: Inside: Inside of your cereal box you must include a minimum of 4 objects, of your own original creation, (no buying from the store!). These objects must be a symbol for character in the story.
_______Step 9: Written Portion: Also inside the box you must include a sheet of paper, (preferably typed), containing a paragraph explaining each of the 4 symbols thoroughly.
Step 10: Written Portion 2: You must choose four characters from the story and explain the main problem from their point of view. Be specific.
